Hello dearies! Happy Tuesday. Monday is over and we are one day closer to the weekend. Yea! For some reason I love Tuesdays. It's the day to do everything I didn't get done on Monday. I definitely seem to be more productive. Maybe it's just because I don't have the Monday blues. Omar and I are going to the movies tonight so I wanted to share this lovely, navy "date night" cold-shoulder blouse. I purchased this piece on sale for less than $10, and I just love the way it makes me feel.
As a Christian in the fashion world, I have particular standards of modesty that I adhere to consistently. So for me, I do not feel comfortable wearing off the shoulder tops. I am not saying they are bad, I just do not feel comfortable wearing them, based on my personal standards. Nevertheless, that is why I love cold-shoulder tops. I feel like I still get some coverage, but they have a trendy, summer vibe that I love.
I bought this one in particular for a night out with my hubby and Sis-in-law. It has a lovely chifon ruffle to give it a feminine flair, while keeping the whole look simple, yet chic. I didn't want to over-dress for a simple dinner, but I love that this piece is still classy. I paired it with white distressed jeans to make it a little edgier, but if you aren't into rips they would look great with a light wash jean or white pants.
I wanted to display the lovely cut outs, so I wore my hair up in a fun little up-do. Obviously, you could wear your hair down, as well, but it's up to you. The navy and white are a great contrast, so I tried to keep it light with the heels, and purse too. I did a darker eye for our evening out, but if you were going for more of a day time look, a light, neutral eye would be perfect. Because my hair was up, I didn't want my earrings to be too gaudy, so I stuck with studs and coordinating bracelets. I wanted the focal point to be my top, so I was careful not to over-do the look with too many accessories.
This top is very versatile, it can be worn with shorts for a more dressed down look, or maybe even tucked into a shorter A-line or circle skirt. Your shoe choices could also vary; heels, flats, or sandals would totally work! Since navy is a neutral, you could try pairing it with another color if you wanted to experiment. Hot pink, yellow, or olive green would look fabulous with it!
I hope you have a wonderful Hump Day Eve. Enjoy the day. You're almost halfway to the weekend. HA!
