Hello all! Before we get into this little outfit combo, I will start with a disclaimer. My husband is totally not into these jogger pants. He is way more of a, "skinny jeans on his wife" sort of guy. That being said, these are not necessarily a universal favorite, but personally, I LOVE them! We agreed that I won't wear these on dates, so everyone is happy. Lol
When I found these little drawstring joggers I was just perusing the "Bottoms" section of the Juniors department at Ross in Brentwood. I had owned one pair of black joggers right after Sami was born, but I gave them away shortly before moving to California because they had gotten too big after losing all my baby weight (my hubby wasn't a fan then, either. Lol) This lovely olive tone is one of those colors that I automatically gravitate to, so naturally, I had to try them on. And it was love at first sight. The flowy fit, the high waist, and those fun zipper pockets were extremely appealing. I love things that looks so chic but feel so comfortable. Their one let-down is that they wrinkle easily and that can get on my nerves.
The great thing about this particular color is that it is almost a neutral. So many colors coordinate with olive green. My personal favorite pairing choices are olive/gold, olive/tan, olive/cream, or olive/camouflage. My Jennifer Lopez top had two of my favorite choices, so I can't complain. I love being able to throw a simple pattern in there, just to keep things interesting.
When it came to the accessories I wanted to keep it simple because I didn't want to compete too strongly with the top. I wore some simple gold earrings and a gold watch/rhinestone tennis bracelet combo to coordinate off the zippers and over sized stripes on the top. I love the simple neutral palette and this is definitely an outfit I don't like to get too colorful with. It's also very laid back, so as much as I love bling, I kept the bling to a minimum with that simple tennis bracelet. But, depending on your style and preference, you could either dress it up more if you wanted. I don't wear necklaces all that often, but a simple pendent necklace would look nice with this. Oh, and these block heel shoes are some of my favorite this summer, and I suggest them for any one who is willing to wear a comfy pair of heels. They can be dressed up or down and look fabulous with just about anything. And they are a less than $25!
Since this outfit is simple I like to make my eye makeup a little more prominent. Again, not too colorful, but maybe go a little darker on the liner, or opt for a smokey eye. I am just in love with pink lips this season, so I went for more of a light pink, matte gloss. I didn't do anything too exciting to my hair, but pulling back the front brought even more attention to my eyes. It kept the vibe laid-back, but not boring.
Not everyone feels comfortable in joggers, so make sure to try on a pair before purchasing. They do have a tendency to make you look billowy so be prepared. If you like more of a tighter look, these are probably not the bottoms for you. Nevertheless, they are a good to mix up your wardrobe a bit, so they are definitly worth a try. If you happen to try a pair on with flats and you don't like how it lays on your body, before you give up, try them with heels. I personally think joggers look better with heels because the heels elongate your legs. If you are over 5'6" you probably don't need help with elongating your body, but try it with both flats and heels and see what looks best to you.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. Are you getting out to enjoy this lovely spring weather? Spring is no doubt upon us, and I am already over the heat. I am dying to feel a San Diego summer and not this hot and dry desert summer. I am excited for a summer without humidity though. That is one thing I absolutely DO NOT miss about Bama. It's amazing how different 90 degrees with humidity feels vs 90 degrees without humidity. Well, stay cool and have a blessed day!
