Hello fellow fashionistas! I hope Tuesday is treating you well. Today is a thrifting day, so I am really excited to share this beautiful duster cardigan with y'all! This was one of these, "by chance" kinda finds. I was visiting one of my favorite consignment shops in Brentwood, New2You Label Xchange (if you are ever in the area you've got to check it out.) and I hadn't gone in looking for a duster, but when I stumbled upon it, I just couldn't resist that lovely detailing, and versatile color. Oh! And did I mention it was only $6? The price was incentive enough.
Before you look through the rest of the pictures, I DO know that I have this super tiny strand of bangs hanging randomly down my face. I do not style my hair like that but natural hair usually has a mind of its own, and yesterday my locks were stating who's boss. So please ignore the weirdness! Just look at this as an attempt to be as REAL as possible with y'all!
Back to dusters.... long cardigans, or simply any type of cardigan really, are fantastic as a transition piece for Autumn! If they happen to be a thinner material, then they go perfectly over tanks or camis, and can easily go over a long sleeve or a tee-shirt. Thicker cardigans can sometimes replace a jacket, which is nice if you aren't a fan of jackets, or you aren't totally sure what the temp will be say, at the movies or a restaurant.
And cardigans can go over just about anything! Dresses, tees, tanks, long-sleeves. You can belt them, you can wear them lose, you can add a scarf or a ineckerchief. Seriously, cardigans make dressing options practically endless. Depending on what sort of outfit you're wearing, you may opt for a shorter or longer one. But the choice is up to you. I would suggest having at least one black cardigan and one other neutral. Usually those two will be versatile enough for a majority of your wardrobe.
I would definitely encourage you, if you don't already own a cardigan, to go pick one up. Detailing is encouraged. One reason I love this particular one on display is that the detailing draws positive attention to the piece. It isn't overwhelming, it isn't gaudy, but it's charming.
Personally, I would also opt for a thinner type material, so you can begin to wear it now. If it's too warm it lacks it's transitional value. Don't forget to thrift first; you may be surprised about what sort of deals you will find. Ross, TJ Maxx, and Styles for Less also have some lovely transitional pieces out right now.
Sami got a couple gift cards to Babies R Us for his birthday, and I got to go pick out some super cute, cool weather outfits. Everything was on sale, so for all the mommies out there, I'll be sure to share it in a future blog post!
