It's Wednesday! Whoop whoop! That means it's hump day! That means it's time to start planning the weekend! That means it's only two more days until I'm sitting in some bleachers watching the Oakland Athletics! That means it's two more days until my husbands off work and we can have family time! But, because today is Wednesday that also means it's the day after that devastating earthquake in Mexico City leaving far too many people homeless, widowed, orphaned, and broken. Please take a few minutes to pray for the people of Mexico and all the lives of those affected. I have extended family in Mexico City, so this hits especially close to home. And let us not forget as well, those in Porto Rico, having to face the deadly force of yet another hurricane!
Please dont cease praying for Texas, Louisiana, and Florida too. This has been a tough season. Not just with natural disasters, but also the horrible division running through our country. Y'all, if you aren't praying people... now is the time to start. North America needs God's divine intervention!
Well, on a less serious note, I had a request to do a post on how to wear wild pieces, and if you have followed this blog for any time at all, you have probably noticed that I love to throw in some pieces that are just that... a little wild, just to mix things up! So here is a little number that is extremely unique but oddly fun!
This is a thrifted fave that has stolen my heart. It's got 1,000,000 colors and patterns going on, but it really makes a statement. When styling an exciting pattern, there are times to go neutral on the complimenting pieces, and times to just grab a color from the pattern and run with it.
With this top, I stuck with the darker burgundy color to flow throughout. I could have worn blue denim, but that would have almost been too contrasting. I didn't want something that drew all the attention to the top. Instead, I wanted something that made the whole outfit cohesive. It kept the top from looking too stark.
I added gold accents, because, well it's gold and I love gold! You could do silver, but I think gold and burgundy go well together. I wanted to stay away from black because it was almost too neutral. It would have basically just disappeared in this look.
The great thing about this top is that it could be dressed up or down! You could tuck it into a skirt for a totally work appropriate outfit, or pair it with shorts too! Whatever! Don't let bold tops or bottoms scare you. They are certainly more of a challenge but I find they are often the thing that gets the most compliments, as long as it is done right.
Have a great hump day and I'll see you back here Friday!
